Default Complete Novice with FTA

Hi there,

Complete novice with FTA! (pre-warning )

I've got satellite dish outside, which I presume still works...used to be linked up to sky, though this was about 8 years ago so I guess we'll soon find out!

Basically I'm wanting to receive FTA channels and any HD content such as BBC HD, this is a must so I want a card capable of receiving HD which i understand is broadcast on ?DVB-S?

I've got an AMD5000+, 1GB RAM, External graphics (can't remember what it is)..would this be capable of handling HD?

Can someone advise me on the best card to get? Of what I gather, the TechniSat Skystar HD card seems to be alright?

That's what I had seen.
If anyone can advise me better I would be very grateful!

Thanks,
Christian.

I'd completely forgotten, the motherboard is PCI-E too...so that would throw that card out the window...any ideas? >:/

hi,
You need a hd receiver to get hd...which comes in the form of a skyhd box.
Also you need 2GB of ram to be able to handle hd performance. yes skystar hd card works.

Only for anyone with VERY deep pockets - those things are bloody expensive!
