Hello everyone!
i have a 78 cm dish with a 1.2 diseqc motor, i can align the dish to thor and get 94% quality, i really want digitalb for the football so when i send it to eulsat w2 i can only get 65% quality but i know if i go up the ladders i can manually tune it to 75%. My mount is vertical with a spirit level, my elevation is set to 38 in accordance with the manual. can anyone offer any advice or reccomend a good installer in the lowestoft area. Thanks everyone for previous advice i am slowly learning. |

After you set your motor to 0 and locate the satellite nearest to your due south position you then use minor adjustments to get the best signal.
Try sending your dish to 16E and then using the receiver options to tweak the motor, to get the strongest signal, save these settings, then if you need to, you make minor adjustments to the dish to get the strongest signal then check the arc again. It is a case of making minor alterations until you get the best out of your dish. Also check the skew of the LNB. |

I think maybe your dish is a little small, maybe a 90cm will be better for you.

ok i'm slowly starting to understand this now, but once i am on the arc will i have to sacrifice signal strength on some satellites and i take it that the levation on the motor should not be altered.

Somtimes it is necessary to change the elevation on the motor.
Once you are sure that you have the best you can get by adjusting dish declination and the position of the motor around the pole, and you think that it is still not right, you will have to do some "arc tuning" Take the dish to the either ends of the arc, say 39E and 30W, and make a note of whether you have to tilt the dish up or down in order to improve the signal. Once you have done this, you can see if your arc is too steep, too shallow, or off to one side. Titlting the dish down more, steepens your arc, tilting it up makes it shallower. However, if the dish needs tilting, then the motor elevation will need to be adjusted the opposite way to compensate. If you google, you will find an arc tuning guide somewhere, with a diagram.

Thanks. |

It depends on how thorough you want to be, you should get an improvement just using one either side. You can tell if it is off to one side as one side you would tilt the dish up for improvement , and the other side down.
