if you get a message like this in your bootlog

debug: Transmitting BOOTP request via broadcast

debug: Given up BOOTP/TFTP boot

boot net failed

This is a clear sign that your network is not fast enough to react to the bootp-request of the Dbox.

2 Reasons for this:

Is your network correctly configured ?

.......Are all Firewalls off
And only. one network card enabled .....Paul

i`m sorry for seeming thick , but i thought i`d followed the instructions , but keep getting the same result , how many times do you have to switch on and off . i can only assume i`ve missed something that is probably simple to someone with more experience with the dbox , thanks for your patience and help .

What OS are you using, if XP, keep trying over and over coz it will flash eventually !!!
If you are running Vista then you need the latest version of IFA available from www.hallenberg.com under frei downloads.

I read somewhere once that you have to completly uninstall norton to get it to work as it still runs in the background even when disabled,
Might be worth a shot.

I had a similar problem with the IFA when trying to flash my box. I was using the older versiona and sounds like I had the same problem as you so I downloaded the latest version 2.2 I think and it seemed to work ok. I just made sure that I set my network ip to 192.168.0.100 and repaired it to refresh the ip address.

I had to restart the box a good few times before it would start to transfer the image.

I just had to keep restating the box and the IFA software till it worked.

Hope you get it working coz I was ready for trying to fix mine with a big hammer
