Default Vista Fiji TV Pack and UK DVB-C

So, bearing in mind there's not really anywhere else (I'm aware of) to discuss this topic I thought I'd start a thread here.

I haven't tried it yet, but I should be (hopefully) getting a copy soon. Apparently it is available in all the usual places, though.

Has anyone tried it with UK DVB-C? Things that I've picked up on are:

Ability to change channel numbers and channel order from the guide
Native DVB-S (hopefully DVB-C)
Selectable audio channels
QAM
Ability to MIX cards - so you can have DVB-T and DVB-S in the same box

Can anyone tell from this url whether we would get native UK DVB-C?

I suppose it depends on the drivers for a start.

What is QAM, anyway?

I'm just wondering how the guide now works if there are multiple TV sources in there.

Just in case anybody wants to try it out the Vista Fiji TV Pack, there is a reply on EngadgetHD's article which has a link to latest RTM of Fiji available for download.

Not disbelieving you, but can anyone confirm you can view encrypted channels with a card and CAM? I've finally got all the encrypted channels working on DVBDream with softcam last night thanks to this excellent forum, but I would dearly love to be able to use the VMC UI again!

Thanks, and sorry for the mini-thread hijack.

Thanks TwinTown!

Sorry for the newbie question, but you've just helped me plot the next step in my path to HTPC heaven! As an added bonus, by the time I've got a card and CAM up and working, the Vista TV Pack will probably be out on Windows Update by then.

Cheers for the quick reply - now back to reading and lurking....

Yep, me too (thanks to twintown mainly!) two FireDTV's, Blue Zetacams and F*n4's. Used them in MCE and moved to VMC in the last few weeks.

I have no Dreambox experience, so getting the transponder codes was the most difficult bit, followed by trying to get CAMs to work and then F*n's, but it's all good, now.

Biggest issues I have with VMC are sorting the channels (you can, but it's a royal pain with so many) and multiple audio channels (can't select a particular channel, so sometimes you get the Narrative) and using the Sky Satellite Guide (still a couple of channels missing). The first two of these issues are "fixed" in Fiji, apparently

I was going to try Fiji out, but it seems like theres some "loss of signal" type issues with the current FloppyDTV/FireDTV drivers, but they are working on Beta drivers for Fiji, so I think I'll wait.

By the way, TT, mce2dvbs still works for me - it looks like the trick is to NOT doing any manual channel order changes before trying it. Also, I think you said you had Sly moovies 2 in your guide?
