Default Should I worry if box is left on too long?

I remember someone posting here about a Eurovox that made crackling noises on souond after about one hour of continuous usage.

I have not had this problem, but I hardly use my box, I only use it for test purposes. But I am never sure how hot the box is going to get, because I have never left it on for very long before.

Whoever it was who posted this about the box overheating, can someone please reassure me that things should be OK if it has run fine for over one hour.

Thanks for your help.

At the end of day when all are going to bed turn off any item's that you don't need .. if you have your system.... tv-sat-recorder on self timer make sure they have air!!!!!! (not under a ) other wise they will not have a long life.. DO YOU HAVE A SMOKE ALARM. if not why not..........press that buton go on.:-)

My mother in law stayed when wife was in hospital having last baby, i was on nights, i came home to 2 inches of water in kitchen, she has an obsession of pulling all the plugs out when she goes to bed, and had unplugged the fridge and freezer, and the clint eastwood film i had set up to record was gone.
There shouldnt be any problem having stb on for long periods of time, and left on standbye when not used, they should have good ventilation, not so good if you have lots of gear all stacked up in a cabinet with doors etc.
Good advice about smoke alarms pje everyone should have them.

Thanks you - yes we do have a smoke alarm and all equipment works fine normally it was just the Eurovox I had a query about - but even that has air above. So I should be OK.

It's just that our TV system is connected by RF connections etc, so it makes it easier to select the channels from any room. All TVs are RF linked - no SCARTs - that is why I connected everything up for the Olympics and put each box on the alternative BBCi streams. The other boxes are satellite receivers which are linked to each other.

Thanks for your help.
