Default LCD TV to DVD Recorder connection... HDMI or SCART cables ???

Hi...ive just brought a new dvd hard drive recorder and am waiting on my LCD TV. Ive heard a HDMI cable is better than using scart cables. Is it worth getting one of these cables just to watch freeview channels or is it designed to be better for High Definition channels only ?

I hope you can help me out as confused as wether to spend alot of money or make do with scart and/or RF cables.

Thanks for your help in advance
