Default DM600 Support

Hi Guys

I want to get into the world of linux receivers and I'd like to get a DM600. I must admit I've looked on the internet and the support for it with guides and tutorials seems very small in comparison to the Eagle box and DM500.

I've read on the internet is that the DM600 is just a slightly upgraded version of the DM500. With this in mind is the reason that support seems so small is that the tutorials and information for the DM500 also works on the DM600 too ?

I've never had a linux reciever before and I don't want to buy a DM600 and then find that I'm lumbered with a stb that has little support.

Please help me out guys !

Thanks

Comparing the DM600 with the Eaglebox 500 is like comparing a Rolls Royce against a Reliant Robin

The 600 has lots of support which will grow even more as its a relatively new receiver compared to the 500

There is plenty of support for the 600, infact every major image team has an image out for them now, you just have to look for them

The 500 has major problems when trying to operate a motorised setup and there are that many clones on the market the chances of you getting a genuine one are slim to nothing.

The 600 is a far superior box in every sense. The easiest way to describe it would be a cut down version of the DM7020.

It has the added bonus that you can install a hard drive into it which you cannot do on a 500 and the images it runs are more like the 7020 nfi files rather than the 500s img files

Its also has more memory for you to play with too

Its not a slightly upgraded version of the 500 its a hugely upgraded version. If you want a slightly upgraded version you'll be wanting a 500+

I've been there with the Eaglebox and i can honestly say they are a complete pile of s**t and i wouldn't wish one of them on anybody. I would rather have my old TM9100 back than have another one of those.

They are cheap for one reason which is all to obvious once you have one

okay you sold it to me,

I've order one !

I understand that when I have a new reciever that I have to rescan all the transponders to install the channels but does the motor itself remember the satellite positions (e.g 13 E 28.2E) that I used for my TM1500 or are the positions kept on the receiver?

Apologies for my ignorance but I paid for an installer to set up my motorised system and now I'm moving on from my faithfull Technomate 1500 I'm bricking it a bit.

Thanks

You won't need the installer again, as the dish and motor will still be on the arc as you have not changed them. The satellite positions also are stored on the motor. How you would go about synchronising them with the new receiver though, I don't know, I use USALS for quickness.
Also you can restore all the positions manually anyway, by working your way round the arc, storing as you go.

My motor positions were set up using disecq for my TM1500. So does that mean that I have to sYnchronise using disecq or can I use USALS ?

Thanks

Its just a case of looking at _www.lyngsat.com and finding the transponder frequencies, Fecs & SR that can be received in the UK.

For example on 23.5e 10758 V 22000-7/8 is a transponder that can easily received in the UK. Just set that up in the motor config and then just move the motor until you get a lock. Anything on Astra 1E (May show as 1D on a Dreambox dependent on how upto date you transponder list is) can be easily received on an 80cm dish in the UK. Most stuff on 3A can only be received on a 1m+ dish if your lucky

When its locked (May show up as a cross, a tick or green light dependent on the image you are using) just press the green button to store it

You can then press the blue button to search the satellite

You will then have to select automatic transponder scan, select the satellite you want to scan and then press ok

The first thing you should see on 23.5e when you do a scan is Euro1080

When your box is searching you should see something like the second pic

The only thing to watch out for is that some transponders on 23.5e, 19.2e, and 28.2e have the same settings

Thanks for the info,

I noticed your using Gemini, is that one of the better images to use ? I'm a newbie so I suppose the most straight forward image to use may be the best one for me.

Also I read that lots of people seem to recommend Ccam for the Dreambox. Is this for c/s or would I need this if I wanted to use my Supersports Card in my Dreambox ?

Many Thanks
