Default Am i the unluckiest bugger with a C-1501?

I'm cursed!
After building my htpc months ago, along with my TT C-1501, got progdvb and dvbdream working fine. Tried sagetv and mediaportal. Neither would recognise the card, so uninstall both, which then fubar'd both progdvb and dvbdream.
So, did a system restore to before that and got it working again, even though sagetv kept popping up annoying wanrning windows.
Then about 2 weeks ago windows did some updates (vista HP 32bit), rebooted and it forked up progdvb and dvbdream again...AAGGHHHH!!!!
Tried to remedy it last night by uninstalling and reinstalling pdvb and dvbd but neither would have it, saying hardware error.

I'm pretty sure my card is fine, cos a system restore sorted the other issue. But i can't just stop installing windows updates just to get the frikkin programs to work.

I so wish mediaportal would work as its got the best gui out of all of them.
Its was a new build with a fresh instal of a legit vista hp. There's hardly any other software on it as its purely a htpc.

I'm really really .

Any advice anyone? Please? I don't blame the mrs for moaning at me, seeing as i hoofed the portable tv into the loft. Now we have no tv in the bedroom and i might have to give her some monkey luvvin'.

Could it be a driver problem??? worth trying a uninstall and reinstall of the driver for the card. I have a recent technotrend driver for vista etc that for some reason they withdrew 5.0.0.12, pm me if you want to try it.

Ahaa... Mr Willin, i see you have your red cape on again, thanks mate.
However i've uninstalled the card half a dozen times now. I even updated the vista driver to 5.0.0.19 (i think) and its made no difference.
If i did a sys restore i reckon it would all work again, but i don't like disabling windows updates just to get a prog to work, too many security risks imho.
That's why i'm sure its a software issue and NOT a hardware failure.

I assume that had i bought a more expensive, non-budget card then i wouldn't have half of these problems.

k.jacko mate,
I suppose you may have something like this but why not try -http://www.iobit.com/advancedwindowscareper.html?Str=download run this free system cleaner then have a go with your card, you are definitely the unluckiest bugger with a C-1501.

I have media portal latest RC2 working on Vista home with vplug and tt1501

I am at work but I can help you set it up no worries.

I have set it up twice now and both times it has worked great.

The only issue I have is getting the vplug windows to appear but I always does appear in the end.

I have used Acronis True image to make an image of my htpc so if/when i make changes and they go smelly I can restore the working setup.

I followed a guide from another forum. I can pm you when I get home.
