Default RTE News Blocked

Why are most RTÉ streams blocked for those of us outside of Ireland during the Olympics?
Because of the requirements put on RTÉ's contract for the Olympics.
Who came up with this requirement?
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) made this a requirement.
Why not just block the Olympics themselves?
Because the restriction is not just limited to highlights of the Games, but it expands to any footage filmed within the 'accredited' area or interviews conducted within the 'accredited' area. For instance, if Pat Kenny was to interview an Irish person via a mobile phone and they happened to be in an official Olympic car, we cannot play that interview outside of Ireland.
Realistically, this means we need to block all live streams, radio and television, because we cannot monitor all of the streams 24 hours.
Did you try and appeal?
Yes. The EBU made a number of appeals to the IOC, but was rejected.
How can I complain?
Send an email to the Beijing Committee's Media and Communications representative xuanchuan@beijing2008.cn
Or call the International Olympic Committee in Switzerland directly at +412162161
How can I get news from Ireland during the Olympics?
We will make news available on-demand after they air.

This is pathetic, No RTE news on the Computer, yet its available on 252 long wave all over Europe, is the world gone mad.
Big Brother again.
