Hi Guys,
Please help, recently bought thebox pvr and have latest firmware installed and all working. Installed harddrive myself without problems and flashed firmware via serial cable. Problem is that no matter what i cant connect to box via usb. I have selected PC mode from menu and tried different cables but can connect. laptop does not pick up any dvices. tried on ma winxp and vista. same result. changed hdd to master/slave/autoselect still cant. any help appreciated. another thing is that whenever u switch the box on it brings installation menu asking for language select then the main menu. is this normal? and how do you program RCU for your specific tv? new to this guys so help is greatly appreciated. sorry about spelling using my palm laptop on train and keyboard quite fiddly. thanks in advance. |

raf_shc - are you sure the PVR can see the hard drive? Check the menu on the PVR to see. If so, the problem's with your laptop. Sometimes it can take upto a minute or more for the laptop to see the hard drive and add it to your list of drives. Try plugging it in and then setting PC mode on the PVR then wait a minute or two. If you can't see the drive in explorer check your device manager to see if there's a problem.
Also try plugging it in and setting PC mode with the laptop off, then turn the laptop on. It might then find the drive as new hardware. As for the installation message on startup, ignore it as it's normal with the latest firmware (I think). Try pressing OK then exit and you should be back to normal. T.O.M. |

Thanks for your help mate, but I have tried many laptops including a mac and vista OS ones aswell as winXP. Still no joy. I can record to the hard disk and playback fine! so its not a problem with the box>hdd problem. Anyways ill try other things and let you guys know if i sort it. |

hi mate, i changed the ide cable around but still does not work. can i just clarify what u meant about reversing the ide cable. all i did was removed the end that goes into the hdd and connected that to the board of the box and vice versa. |
