the 5400 will be ok but with h/d well on its way get the 6900 technomate can be patched , put a hardive to it , and tv 1000 is open right now but for how long we dont no . it could all be black the next day , in this game pay your money and take a chance , dish bigger the better 1 to 1,2 m will be ok for most , and a diablo cam will open what the t/mate does not on 16 % and 1 % but the same as above , how long , madsod

The Dreambox is a LINUX based receiver,it is a enthusiast's receiver and not like all the plug 'n' play receivers, which are suitable for beginners.
You will need experience of LINUX,to get the best out of it.

You dont need ANY experience of linux to get the best out of a DB. BUT there is a VERY steep learning curve associated with getting them to work properly

As far as Im aware the 6900 wont read a sky card directly. You would need something like a diablo cam as well.

Even if you go down the diablo route you wont be getting rid of the sky box - you would need to put the card back in the sky box overnight once a month or so to allow it to pick up its "stay alive" signals
