Hey had a v+ 8300 running for about 2 months now and all working fine set netid and program mosc... working perfect. Last night stb went to 88:88, i've done soo searching and heard that it could be the netid chip... But I've programmed mine 2 months back and it was all working fine. Can the chip still go.
It there a fix for the 88:88 on v+ wnt even let me go to eng menu. Appreciated. |

You can get dry joints show up after a while of use so its worth checking, the atmels suffer this too as they say reflowing the atmels, apply flux and heat with a gas torch, the electrolitic capacitors look like metal cans, they can have a lifespan of 2000 hrs or less sometimes, the tops bulge out and sometimes leak when defective, there are smaller surface mount ones too, but not so easy to check, caps are quite a common fault especially on psu side where they get hot.

If you have a test meter set it to ohms, then put probes on both terminals of cap it doesnt matter which way then reverse probes, you should get a brief reading which should be roughly what is printed on cap,1000 uf (micro farad ) for example, you may have to do it a few times to establish the reading, if you get no reading or it goes right round the scale its knackered, if you have to change any and cant get exact match you can use a slightly higher voltage or mf , if its a high temp one 105 deg make sure its same or it wont last long.
