When I was on holiday in Cornwall I noticed that around half the Sky dishes fitted were zone 2 and not zone 1. I just wondered if any one knows why

Originally the South West (and the North West) were designated Zone 2. I guess it's up to individual installers/customers which they go for.

In the first specification the South West corner, or put another way, about half of Cornwall was designated Zone 2, the NW corner of England (Lake District) was also Zone2. I believe that all of England is now Zone 1.

Must be a lot of Sky customers north of Leeds wondering why there signal goes in a light drizzle.
What a numpty. Especially considering the zone 1 dish of today is smaller than the zone 1 dish of about 10 years ago.

Yes but the LNB's are better.
If you look at the Satellite footprint maps on Lyngsat, even 2A's South Beam puts 52dBW into central Scotland
