Default Strange mute err problem

Heres one for the experts.

ive done a search and read all i can on this mute err thingy, most posts say that the reader is boogered or the files are in the wrong places.

now i have a 4001 box here, that worked perfect for ages and now gives me the 'card not inserted' message and all but the freeview channels are gone.

i checked in the eng menu, and when i put a new freshly programmed (tested and working) card IN, it says card removed ??? yet when i REMOVE the card it says 'mute err' lol

ive never seen or heard of this before, and it has me baffled.

anyone any idea of whats going on ??

cheers

Mate I'm no expert...

As for the fta channels check the netid and freq

Open up the card reader in the stb and check the pins are not bent and are making good connection with the board with a multimeter.

Just to add that if your normally mute err means the card is fired, BUT in your case I dn think so. If the card shows a atr and your able to program it then the card is ok.

cheers for the replies lads

theres a fun4 in the box that i reprogrammed with the 'pure_fun_fix' and tried in my own box and its working 100% ive also done a mosc for it and same problem, so its not a dates issue.

the box is also showing all the fta channels, with a 'card not inserted' message, so no probs there.

the bit that has me baffled is in the eng menu, with NO card inserted it says 'mute err', but as soon as i insert the card, straight away it says 'removed'

i dunno, i think this 1's for the bin, unless anyone has any other ideas ?

cheers.

I had the same prob with a 4001, I pulled the red jumper to reset the box, booted into eng menu without your card in and set the pin (you will also have to set your net ID if not in pure N*L) then rebooted with the card in forcing an update by keeping the down arrow pressed on the STB while booting up. When its updated and this can take some time but be patient all should be well, but the most important thing is to prog your cards exteep using toxic 7 becuse doing it with nagra would not work with my 4001, hope this helps.

the mute err reason is either because of the nov 2006 hit killer emm or card reader faulty.
