Hi skye00 for your information i did what you said and the IP that was returned had nothing to do with my TFTP IP ive managed to get hold of the real number for my area and have now been able to lock onto the cable providers server for my area.

Now can anyone help me ive got another problem in the infinite webserver page all settings are ok ds frequency is locked ect TFTP servers ok ect and on the settings menu it says permission granted or ok ect ect. I managed to get to this stage by finding my real TFTP server address and also by trying 2 20mb config files from the ambit tools drop down menu. Now heres the problem i get a registration page stating that they dont recognizes my connection and that i must pick from a list of two providers that both say the same thing which is to call a number???

I know the mac is good and working ive just come from my mates house so why am i getting this problem???

Hi uwfred,

To be honist im not sure i dont think so were a far way away with other areas in between us but ill get him to check when hes in can you post me the link to find my ubr again please if possible. I always thought the modem would restart constantly if that was the case not get a registration/error page?

Im going to leave the modem scanning for some macs tonight but i did want the known confirmed 20mb one to work i dont see why it isnt does my nic address have anything to do with it also i made the modems serial the same as the mac address with an additional digit as as the macs are 12 digits and the modems serial is 13

heres how to check your ubr

First of all you will need a mac address from a different UBR segment.
Eg.
If your UBR is ubr03 you will need a mac from ubr02 or ubr04
(Check UBR) >>

Thanx uwfred but your spoilt mate configs have been encrypted for some time now in these parts scanners wont return them and forceing gets you no where. I left dhcp sniffer on for a night and have got around 25 macs gonna give them a go ill have to select all the config file one at a time resetting the modem each time to see what speeds they work with if they work at all is there a better way than this???

thanx for the ubr link.

for ma start u dont wanna be putting your location onto an open forum as its abit daft mate. in dhcp sniffer it should give u a config file when u scan. if it doesnt u wanna take all splitters out n run the modem into a direct feed then do it...if u use dhcp sniffer too much ur putting stain on the network meaning your attracting attention to yourself which also isnt good. if u find that the macs ur using aint working u can brute force one of the macs u have found. and if it still doesnt work change the 4 section's second number eg aa:bb:cc:d1:ee but putting the digit or letter one up or down n brute force...u will get a working mac
