Old box seeks new look

Hello all,

I have been gifted an old sagem dbox2 (1 intel chip) which has been running pretty well on V1rg1n / nt el for a couple of years.

I have managed to telnet into the box and can rummage around the root filesystem.

But the image i have (from reading a boot up screen ) is sportster 1.7 uk04
uboot 1.1.7 and neutrino 2.0 ( i think). Its old, and the channel names are screwed up.

I would like to install an updated image. so far found Andromeda, Blade Quad, CabelFerret, commando, V++, etc.

Questions

1. Are the different names of images just look and feel differences, or do they contain certain features. How to find this out (websites, changelogs)
2. Without starting a fanboy war, what are the best image options and which is the best in your opinion....
3. Is Hallenberg IFA my best flashing option or better with telnet/ftp or other?

If you got sportser running now
And can acsess the network ip addy
Best option is to Use Flash FXP or other FTP Client
And transfer an image (blade Quad 1 x ) to the temp fpolder of your box


FTP .img file to the /tmp folder on the box.

Using remote...

SERVICE MENU
SOFTWARE UPDATE
EXPERT FUNCTIONS
WRITE ONE PARTITION
FLASH WITHOUT BOOTLOADER

Select the image from the list and select yes

Reboot your box
And thats it ..................Paul
