Hi all
I have been living quite comfortable with my Technomate 1500ci+, patching etc had become easy. So I went out and bought a Vantage and it feels like it's back to square one. I surprised myself when I plugged it in and got all the satellites to work. However I have hit a brick wall when it comes to all the goodies. The receiver is great to play with and eventually I will have it connected to my Fibo. In the meantime can anyone point me in the right direction? Do I need software similar to the Technomate loader? if so where do I get it? any help will be appreciated. Regards

if its anything like the vantage x200 series patching you will need a program called winup 2.6 which will load the software to the receiver
winup 2.6 will also transfer softcam files you can get the software from this website _http://www.vantage.gmc.to/index.php

The receiver is fantastic, pity you don't live on the doorstep you could borrow it and then instruct me on how to use it, it's going to take a long time!!
Its an old Dexta (the tractor I mean)

Does anybody else have anything helpful to add to enable me to understand this receiver. I know it is new but any little tips will do. The receiver is able to connect to the web even though the addresses length is somewhat limited. Is there a web address associated with this receiver? Any comment or assistance will be most appreciated, and rewarded.
Regards

Wod is correct with what he said but its far easier to upgrade software and softcams with a memory stick. Simply save the files onto a memory stick from the aforementioned website then go to USB1 or 2 in the multimedia menu, select the relevant software or softcam and wait for the box to finish flashing and rebooting. You should make a system and channel backup before you upgrade anything by going to software manager in the channel setup menu and pushing the yellow button. Its also good to do a factory and default reset every now and again. This can be done in defaults setting in the installation menu.
I know you can get official software upgrade through the internet and over the air but I haven't tried these methods. |

Update:
I have now got the hang of the Ethernet connection, I have three addresses on my server: 1. The official Vantage site 2. My home network 3. Satfreaks.TV Between all these locations it is possible to download everything I need to get the best out of my receiver. Regards
