ALL of this information is already on this forum. If anybody has questions regarding any of these specific functions I suggest you search the forum for posts about each specific function and leave a message there.
In case other people have these same questions as this person and was curious to the answers but too lazy to search forum for answers, heres they are: Schedule Recordings: -> you can schedule recordings by either manually set the time, date and channel or directly one click from the episode guide menu. Hard-disk: -> It uses a standard 3.5" IDE hard-disk. (the box formats it to FAT32 file system) Premium Channels: -> to get the new channels unlocked do this: 1.) Press menu and go into system setup. 2.) highlight "parental contorl" and press ok 3.) it should be highlighted on "old pin", at this point press "i" followed by "2007" to enter CAS SYSTEM options. highlight "Nagravision I, II" and press ok. 4.) scroll left or right until you find your matching provider (same one you picked on initial setup), scroll down to "Key Number". theres usually 00 and 01, (maybe more) select 00 and press ok, change to 01 and press ok. This will store both sets of keys for decoding. 5.) press exit and press ok to save, Now all those "locked" channels should now be accessible. (if not listed, do another full channel scan) Firmware upgrade: -> Most suppliers of The Box PVR already have the latest firmware pre-loaded on them. However if you need to upgrade, you can "send" the data from PC (using application run on pc) to the box pvr via a null modem cable. Or you can connect the box pvr to your pc with a USB cable and upload the firmware file onto the disk, then from the box pvr menu choose to upgrade firmware from hdd. All files required are available here: http://eko.*******.com/ Channel Scanning: -> Some channels (both premium and normal) may not be added when you do a scan if they are currently off-air, you need to do another scan during the times they are on-air and it will add them to your list. (for example, cbbc) Note: These facts are based on The Box PVR with the latest firmware installed as of this posting date. Your menu's may vary slightly depending on your firmware version. |

Ok I am a little confuced as to what you are asking here mate.. I have both the Starview ex5000 and the eurovox pvr . Wich of the box's are you intrested in. If it helps, i can tell you that i found the starview easier to set up but im not very impressed with the pvr side of things. Its a bit hit an miss when it comes to epg recordings and it was a real head ache getting the hard drive to be recognised by the box. The favourites menues are set up for you when you do the initial power scan wich saved a lot of messing round. I realy liked this feature. it only took me about 15 minutes to edit them to my taste instead of the 3 or 4 hours it would have taken had i had to set them up from scratch. The eurovox pvr was a little bit more complicated to set up innitially, but I prefer this box more due to the twin tuners and the fact the pvr side of things seem to work a lot better, also it has the advantage of being able to record one channel whilst watching any other channel. The starview limits you to only being able to watch something on the same transponder as the channel you are recording. What this means is that you might only have a choice of 5 or 6 channels you can watch whilst you record on your starview. One last thing i think I should point out is that the Eurovox has a far more sensative tuner than the Eurovox pvr. So if you live in a week signal area you might well need to go out and purchace some kind of signal booster. Well sorry for a long post but i hope that i have been able to help you make up your mind what box you will be going for I should point out however that these are my findings on the box's and other people might well have had other experiences. Its always worth having a good read through these forums to get a good overall picture. Good luck bigbob |

I think you are mixing up the two Bob the Starview PVR is the twin tuner. The Eurovox PVR the single tuner, with just the capacity for single TP watch and record.

Yes mate, to my mind it is the better box especially with the fact that you can record something and watch what ever else you like. One other thing i for got to mention is the fact that it takes an ordinary pc hard drive so if you have one knocking round the house you can use that. saves the expence of havibg to go out and lash out more money. The eurovox takes a lap top hard drive but you are restricted to the make and size that you can use and of course they tend to be a little more exspensive than the pc ones.
