pvr recording and rf loop

hi newbie here a couple of questions about the pvr500
does anyone know what the different settings in the recording menu do
there is one called timer service with different options pvr record, wake up, sleep and vcr record

can you run another box indepentently from the rf loop out or is it better to use a splitter

A1. These options to record carry over from the other box's with only the PVR recording option new. What they let you do are the following:- 'Wake Up' you can set the box to switch itself on at any given time in the future, e.g. to wake you up in the morning. 'Sleep' allows you to set the box to turn itself off at a time in the future, e.g. if in bed watching TV, you can set it to turn off an hour later, after you have fallen asleep. 'VCR Record' allows you to set up a recording in tandem with either a VCR or DVD recorder so that you can record a program while you are out - no real use for this in the PVR as you can set the box up to record to the HD instead, unless of course you don't have a HD installed.

A2. You can use either way, if using a splitter always go for a good make (F Type' screw connections I always prefer and not those cheap push in type).
