ambit 200 stopped working. now bricked or some other problem?

Heya,

ok so I've had this modem for a good several months now hacked on a 20mb config. Its an ambit 200 that I did myself ages back (and the only modem I've ever hacked so no real expert).

As of a couple of days ago, the net went off on the afternoon. It then seemed to work periodically once in a while but by late evening/early next day it was working fine again. Then after half a day it went off again and has been off since.

I've just got round to looking at it, and I am getting the following errors in log

2008-08-31 00:56:38 3-Critical 0x045A8148 TLV-11 - Illegal Set operation failed

I have a 2mb subbed modem too so I ran that to check my tftp was still the same which it is, and then also tried cloning my own modem as thats a 100% valid mac (obv making sure subbed modem switched off) . Same problem

I did a bit of searching, and some suggestions about trying clearing the tftp and configs, which also tried to no avail.

On random browsing earkuer today I did see some reference someone made that to try resetting something within hyperterminal that may have been reset, but I'm still trying to find that page again.

anyone any ideas what may be up? I've checked my subbed box too in the same cable upstairs and that runs fine so dont suspect its the cable or splitter and strength looks to be ok (cant recall exactly as its disconnected now but think it was 0 and 55)

hmmmmm

this is a bit weird.

Earlier when I tried my subbed modem, I tried it a) in its usual place downstairs, and b) upstairs in place of the hacked modem.

What I did not do was try the hacked modem downstairs.

Now I just tried the hacked modem downstairs, and it connected fine.

BUT

I then reset it - and put the box into place thinking I'll just leave it down there for now. This time it didnt connect properly with the same issue.

I put it back to the exact position I had it when I was testing it the first time (which was upside down and slightly angled) - and its working fine again :-s

soooooo....it looks like it may be the modem playing up.

Has anyone else ever encounted something like this? Reminds me of the old psx1 upside down to read discs trick and the likes lol

hmmmmmmmm iv got a modded 200 thats just stopped working all of a sudden & i havent got a clue wats wrong with it .................HELP PLZZZZ ...

Change your MAC address on the modem.
