Hi people,

I just have some really newbie questions, i have read the haynes manual.

I just wanted to ask, since the manual is old, a few questions.

I have just ordered a pre-infinite flashed 250/255 of ebay.
Can i still use this ? ( i read about them getting blocked )

Can i use two modems on the one line ??
I would like to use the hacked one for downloading stuff,
and the legit one which i pay for (20mb) for general stuff that links to me.

yes you can use 2 if you have a splitter to can run as many modems as you like on 1 line

when you connect it do not put cable feed on it, make sure you change user namw and password, then you can connect it

Hi,

The Guy im getting this of has told me he has already changed the password, but ill do it my self to be sure.
If the modem is already flashed do i still need to use a MAX233 or anything like that to change the mac address ??

oh an i Just wanted to know can they actually trace usage on a line ??
Like link the cable line to my house ??

And would i be right in thinking i would get a different IP from my one

no you dont need MAX233, as long as you have the user and password..the MAX233 would have bypassed the user and password, all i can say is that i use my modem 24/7 downloading torrents and what ever, at 20 meg for has long as i can remember

Sorry to hi-jack thread but i too am a total newbie.Also reading Haynes manual and gonna buy infinate 255
Have already sniffed Macs in readyness for trade,but a few questions 1st as all this lingo is totally alien to an old thicko like me:-
Q1)what exactly does Nic Mac mean?(lol)

Haynes said if gonna run both cloned and subbed modem off same cable, change address via ie:-SMAC
Q2)Will by doing this change my subbed IP adress(would prefer not to)
Q3)Can i just alternate between either modem on my laptop
Q4)What do they mean "Ethernet" connection when hooked up via cable(thought this was for connection via telephone land line or something!)

Ok i tested this out, i got my brother to bring his Ambit round to my house,
But instead of getting his IP like i thought i would i still got mine???
