Default problem with coax input

I have an old Sony CRT tv. The Coax input which is shown as main on the tv when the input button is pressed has not worked for the last several years. This used to not be a problem because I had satellite wich I used a reciever to plug into my S-video Input. Now I have moved off to college and we have a cable at the house I am living at. The coax is coming directly from the wall and I have to plug into the main input. Does anyone know of a way to fix this problem or work around it at all without taking my tv into a place to fix it.

And just to let you know. I thought about trying to find a connector that will change coax to S-video but when i push the channel up and down buttons on my remote control all the will pop up is S-video. I assume I cannot change the channel whilel in S-video mode on the tv.
