Default usb serial adaptor problem

i am new to satellites and i am trying to patch my tm1500ci super. i have installed the driver for the logilink adapter and it is recognised on my laptop on comm 14. when i try to connect to my box i get the message to turn the reciever on, which it is. not sure where to go now and would appreciate any ideas.

Have you read through the sticky thread "Patching your Technomate 1000 series"?

i have tried this. when i click on connect it says no available comm port and when i click on autodetect it says connect your reciever and turn it on, which it is. Cables and adaptor are brand new so should be ok.

You may have to change the comm port to a lower one - many programmes only recognise the first 4 or 6.

The USB-serial adapters are often a bit touch and go if they work or not unforunately. I have an old Laptop with a proper serial port I can use if necessary.

Right click on My Computer on the desktop then click on properties. Then click on the hardware tab, then on device manager.

Then on the Ports (COM & LPT) item on the menu. You should have an Item labelled something along the line of USB SERIAL PORT (COM14)

Right click and click on Properties, then on the PORT SETTINGS tab then on the Advanced button.

With a bit of luck one of the lower port numbers will be free - change it to 1 - 4 if possible and ok it. Close all the boxes and go through them again to see if the change stuck.

Then run the loader again and set it for COM 1 or whatever you have set it for.
