Default EX5000 PVR annoying problem

Every morning i am faced with a black screen meaning i have to switch it back off and on to get it working again, i know its only a minor niggle but if i set a recording for a couple of days time and forget to re-set the box it will not record.
I have read a few people have had the same problem, any fixes yet?

PS: tried 1.1 and 1.1a firmware

Same problem here. Returned box yesterday waiting for replacement, but if this is common problem, I may be dissapointed.

Does anyone know if this is a software or hardware fault?

Could you give more info seamouse as I have the same problem. I have edited the CDF file with one on the website and uploaded it to the box. I have downloaded it to laptop edited and then uploaded back. So you think this is the problem then?

My 2nd box does exactly the same as my 1st one. Once left in standby overnight will not start umtil powered off and on.
Once I had put in the hard drive, I did a powerscan and the box worked fine, until this morning.
Could it have something to do with the hard drive starting up?
It has to be a software issue. Any ideas?

Thumbs up Re: EX5000 PVR annoying problem

yes a also wondered if this was an issue with hard drive but i have not tried with it out might try that later, as i said in earlier post its not a massive problem, so i will continue to switch box off at back at night time as since ive started doing this it has started 1st time everytime
i have noticed a noise when box comes on which i think is the hard drive then the screen stays black till it is restarted by switching off, but not had this problem since switching off at back
hope this helps

I'm going to try it without the hard drive later and see if it starts in the morning. The hard drive is working ok as I've tried recordings and yes it is rather noisey. The more I think about it, our problem is down to the hard drivce starting up. I'll keep you posted on what happens in the morning, without the drive in.
