Default Police raid, what now!?

Can't say too much in case it identifies me! I had a rude awakening this morning. 5 pigs raided my house under Section 32 of Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984. Couldn't tell me why but did a search and seized a computer, mobile phone and loads of copied CD's. They were either stupid or antisocial - between them they couldn't unplug the computer, and wouldn't speak to me. I'm sure one was staring right at the vox box for at least 30 minutes. They could come back for other computers/laptops, router, network drives, the lot...

You think its opened a can of worms? Should I remove the vox or hide it under the floor boards? Would they check there? Should I get an AV sender? What works with these boxes? ARGH

If they have come to collect evidence on some crimes committed in the area last year, apparently some scrote has given my name... can they use the pirated CD's against me or just keep them as they haven't come to look for copied disks? or do they have to give them back as its not related to the crime? lol I'd be better seeking legal advice wouldn't I!

well you said if they have come for last years crimes lol well they have to tell you why they have come mate especially if they have come for you if it is anybody else in the household then they wouldnt have to tell you unless they wanted.
Its all evidence to them mate they might be taking the serial numbers off the stuff they took or sumtimes people mark their goods if they were stolen goods that had been marked then they will take it further but if they cant prove that the stuff is stolen then they kant do notihng more remeber posession is 9 tenths of the law lol
they could use pirated cds against you mate they are illegal at the end of the day but in most cases they wont bother but they might keep them just to be a pain lol.
when they raided your house was the warrant for stolen goods if it was and they kicked your door off and it turns out that nothing was stolen get them to pay for your door. the cops nowadays are abit ruthless if they have a warrant for drugs even if they find a gram of canibus they wont pay for the door but if they find nothing they have to pay to fix it.

No, they knocked. Nothing is stolen, no violence with neighbours or anything. I have nothing to do with the crime they have a warrant for, but they are keeping the equipment and putting it through forensics as they suspect it may hold evidence. Its got loads of downloaded programs and music on... I don't give two hoots if they keep it I can buy another, I just don't want jail for 5 years! They probably have it on the front desk in the station watching porn.

m8,copied cd's are a traiding standerds offence not a police matter, TS would have come with the police to serve the warrent.

5 years in HM Hotel for copying pirate cd is far off, now what was on the computer hard disk is what i would be getting worried about

1.1 This Code of Practice deals with police powers to:
• search premises
• seize and retain property found on premises and persons
1.1A These powers may be used to find:
• property and material relating to a crime
• wanted persons
• children who abscond from local authority accommodation where they have
been remanded or committed by a court
1.2 A justice of the peace may issue a search warrant granting powers of entry, search
and seizure, e.g. warrants to search for stolen property, drugs, firearms and evidence
of serious offences. Police also have powers without a search warrant. The main ones
provided by the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 (PACE) include powers to
search premises:
• to make an arrest
• after an arrest
1.3 The right to privacy and respect for personal property are key principles of the Human
Rights Act 1998. Powers of entry, search and seizure should be fully and clearly
justified before use because they may significantly interfere with the occupier’s
privacy. Officers should consider if the necessary objectives can be met by less
intrusive means.
1.4 In all cases, police should:
• exercise their powers courteously and with respect for persons and property
• only use reasonable force when this is considered necessary and
proportionate to the circumstances
1.5 If the provisions of PACE and this Code are not observed, evidence obtained from a
search may be open to question.
