Default Motorised Setup - My First...

Hi

I have just recently setup a motorised dish for my Fortec Passion HD receiver.

The dish i have used was supplied with the Maplin Passion HD kit, i think it is 65cm in size.

The motor has been setup fine, i sent it to 28.2e and manually moved the dish around until i got a signal on that Satellite.

I can receive 28.2e, 19.2e, and 13e, with perfect signal on each.

My question is, should i be able to pick other satellites up with this setup? I realise my dish may be to small. Plus may have trouble going west for satellites, as there are many things blocking the clear view.

Thanks for your help,

RamsFan

All depending on your line of site, I can get 17 satellites from 55 east to 53 east with a 80cm dish. 65cm is on the small side for where you are to get the weaker satellites, might be an idea to upgrade to a 100cm one if you are allowed!

LO ramsfan.
I had no trouble picking most sats up on my old 65cm b&q dish. The sats that you are receiving are pretty stong ones.It is best to set your dish up on a weak one.the favorite one being thor 1w.Which is the one that use.
I find that I have to get the elevation bang on as well as the direction.

Thanks for your replies.

So even with the 65cm dish i should be receiving 1w? I haven't checked whether i can get it as of yet as i wasn't sure.

Will have another play around...

Was just wondering if any others were achievable with this size dish, and it seems they are.

I'm not too sure which ones i should b looking for either, as i'm new to all this. I know some are not achievable like 26e. I knew i could get 28.2e, 19.2e and 13e so i went to them straight away. If i had a list of which ones to look for would be easier.

Are you using USALS? Because if you are, it really is as easy as telling the receiver to go to a particular satellite and then running through that satellite's various transponders to see what is receivable.

Depending on where you are in the UK some other satellites you might try for and receive include: 30w, 8w, 5w, 1w, 5e, 7e, 9e, 16e (may be tricky), 23e (some of it), 39e, 42e.

Thanks for that.

I am in Midlands, Derby to be precise. I may not be able to get many west satellites, due to the position of the dish at the moment.

I am using DiSEqC 1.2 through the Passion HD box.

I can send the motor to 28.2e, 19.2e and 13e, and get signals just fine. The first few times, and some other times, i have to manually drive the motor move east or west, as the motor seems to overshoot or not turn far enough.
