Default All confused!!

Hi All

Excuse my ignorance and forgive me if these questions have been answered before.

I recently purchased a Technomate 5200 USB. I’ve been advised by my seller to patch it when an update becomes available.

My set up is that I’ve connected my Technomate to a standard fixed dish on Astra 1 or 2 I think.

Question 1. Is there still a need to regularly do updates?
Question 2. What actually happens when a Patch is applied?
Question 3. What is a cam and do I need to update that too??
Question 4. When looking at the download section on Patches it states:

Updated TPS
Showtime& ART AU
DigiTV AU
Polsat AU
Premiere AU
Absat
ORF, etc

I’m assuming these are channels, does that mean they are now viewable with my set up or does the dish need to point to another satellite??

Same for Software/keys/channel lists… is it all necessary with my setup..

Regards

Jag

Hi,

The second part of your message (copied below) are TV providers similar to sly and BBC (except they are not free to air) and they are nearly all on different satellites, so if you are just pointing or receiving one satellite then you will not be able to receive the majority of the ones below. You need to determine what satellite you are looking at. If you are on Astra 1E 2C at 19.2E then when patched you should be able to receive the fourth one in the list. On the other hand if you are looking at Astra 2 at 28.2E you should be seeing all the BBC and ITV channels, the sly channels are there as well but without a subscription you will not be able to view. I hope this clears up a few of your points.

If the person you bought from is telling you to patch the receiver the you must assume that it isn't patched. To view all the satellites you will need to motorise the system.

Regards

Showtime& ART AU
