trouble entering keys on remote (no audio button for the letter E) help please

can not flash this box no matter how I try
using fta 101 loader and CryptFTA101-09042008 flash but it shows flash update fail

So started to enter keys using remote but on screen it says audio = E

trouble is I dont have an audio button on remote and and no other key gives me the letter E so am unable to enter keys

appreciate help please

check that you have the correct cable rs232 and make sure it works I have had a couple of dodgy ones also make sure your com port is working check for conflicts in device manager they are most common probs for failed flash

cable and com are fine

other boxes are flashing fine (though I did go and fetch another null modem cable) to be on the side, then I used the one I got with a digivox xl last week

same error with all cables

I know there is a box where a null modem one IS NOT USED but I did not think it was a fta 101

you need rs232 cable deffo the same message i got when using wrong cable

I am using a null modem cable (an rs232) which has a crossover like the rj45 network cable

It appears I need a straight rs232

I will go and have a dig around, certain I have a cable in all flavours (well hopefully)

The speaker logo with a ? mark is for "E", just above MENU key.

you can maually edit the keyemu section on all boxes m8ty

don't have this box with me as i sorted it a while ago, but the are various tut's about for this box s siteor on others (google bigmaq's toolbar and that will lead you to a variety of fixes for cards and boxes etc)

Just to confirm my original post confirmation:

I used a normal rs232 cable but bought with a male to female adapter to give me the correct pin outs and it flashed perfect.
