Question Trouble recording on hard drive EX5000

Hello I hope some very clever person can help me before I lose all faith in my EX5000 PVR!! It came with the Western Digital 120GB hard drive installed. I have flashed it with the lastest firmware 1.1A version. I can set it to record using the yellow timer button and it comes on the front display screen of the box that it is recording however, when I come to watch it back from the PVR menu, it is not playing!!!!!!!! It says the programme is there but when I push ok to select it/red to preview it depending on which menu I am in , it just doesn't want to know!

I am really getting fed up. We have pulled it out and pushed it back in firmly, all the pins seem to be straight and it fits tightly. I noticed on some other threads that a bit of black plastic was cut off certain other HDs however there is nothing that I can see that could be cut off because it has a screw on either side that is holding the whole thing together.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Many thanks
Sunflower

try pressing the pause button ,the screen will freez for a mo then ts will show on you box display, then press stop. now try recording again. it sounds like your box is stuck in time slip and only recording the title.

Hi Thanks for that will give it a go, but do you think it will help if I am trying to set up a timer record? I dug out the HD today, switched everything off and then on again reinserted the HD and hey ho there was all the stuff I had recorded!!!!!!!!!!! I wonder if turning the box onto standby might have something to do with it? We have decided not to put it on standby and I have set several things to record tonight so will see if they are there in the morning. Advice was really appreciated!! Ta x

Hi
It records the whole show. My box turned itself off overnight and once again the stuff I recorded last night seemed to have disappeared, until I turned box off removed and reinserted HD and switched it back on and everything was there!! Most bizarre..........I think that when the box goes into standby it doesn't recognise the HD when it is turned on. Bug in the system?? Do you know how to stop the box going into standby mode? Have a good weekend hope you are in a dry spot!!!

Hi all

Update: I solved the turning itself off problem by setting it to record from 23.55 to 00.05 every night on a random channel. This stopped the box switching off and all was well, recordings all in the list etc. Playback of previously recorded stuff was fine and the list was correct. So this morning got up and tried to watch something I recorded a couple of nights ago that was named in the PVR menu as recorded..........but flipping blank screen!!!!!!!! so pulled out the HD with everything turned off and pushed it back in and everything I recorded since 9.9.08 has been wiped!!!!!!!!!Grrrrrrrr...........HELP ME PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!
