Default Max232 Interface question please if you dont mind

Hi , I plan on messing about with a 250 modem i have laying around.
From what i have read i need "Max232 Interface" .
The serial port on the max232 gets connected to the PC using a rs232 serial lead ?
If so how do i connect the max232 to my modem as it only seems to have one connection port,is there other leads needed?
Is there soldering required?

By the way i dont have a max232 yet(iv Just seen picture) so i could be wrong about the connection ports on it.

cheers guys
