Default Has anyone got Floppydtv working on Vista 64?

I've been having problems since I came up with the idea of an HTPC, but you guys have answered every question I've had! Thank you.

Latest question - has anyone got a Floppydtv working properly on Vista 64? I think I've finally worked out how to program a Funcard 4 properly and am able to watch encrypted channels on VMC..... until I change channel a couple of times and then it stops decrypting but still plays FTA ones. If I restart the FireDTV service it will decrypt the current channel, then stop working if I change channel again.

I've tried it on both the TV pack and plain Vista SP1 - the only difference is the error message (TV pack returns "Channel is scrambled" and SP1 returns "no signal").

Has anyone got a Floppydtv working with Vista 64 (in which case it's my card programming or CAM at fault) or is everyone getting this fault (in which case it's the 31 August drivers).

Sorry for the long post, but do hate these one line questions that don't have half the info needed!

You aren't the only one. I have been trying for about a week to get it installing with the new drivers and still no luck at all. I can't even find any of the channels. I have also found that if I try and install the MCE plugin then FireDTV then comes up with an error saying hardware not found. I have no idea what to do as I can't even get Vista 32bit to install on the media center for some reason.

Thanks KuchKuch - nice to know it's not just me going crazy!

Still in the same position although I'm in contact with Digital Everywhere's tech support. We've also established that removing the CAM, pausing and reinserting it also start decrypting again - but it still goes off again after a few channel changes!

I've got a batch file that stops and restarts the FireDTV service, but even assigning a keyboard shortcut to it won't let me run it from within VMC - so that's not a valid workaround.

I'm now considering buying a copy of Vista 32 and installing that instead of my current v64. That will be a pain, and I guess I'll have to drop my RAM to 3Mb instead of 4, but I can't start weaning the family onto an HTPC when it doesn't work properly and I dont know when the drivers will be up to it for v64.

OK, update time again.

Have now formatted my hard drive and installed Vista 32 instead. I'm still having the occasional "channel is encrypted" but it doesn't seem to be as often. I'm also now finding that all the plugins to VMC that I wanted to use work in 32bit, so I guess 32 is going to be the keeper.

Looking over Digital Everywhere's forums, it seems there's a known issue (feature?) where if you hit a scrambled channel VMC won't then unscramble ANY channels until you unplug the CAM or reboot. That's consistent with what I'm seeing, just need to stop it coming up scrambled in the first place.

From discussions with Digital Everywhere's Support techies, they think the CAM is at fault. To find out, I've today received another CAM (icecrypt blue-on-white label) and a CAS3 programmer. I'm hoping to program this CAM to Joker 0.79 and see if it's more successful than the Zeta Blue I'm currently using.

Next question - I have only been able to find one copy of a file that looks like it's Joker 0.79 firmware. The file (once unzipped) is a 63Kb bin file - does that sound like I've found the right file, or have I downloaded a red herring?

Thanks, and sorry to be asking so many questions!

yep that's sounds correct for the joker file.....i use a flopppydtv an up until i installed the 'tv pack update' never even saw the message channel encrypted or scrambled all channels cleared instantly but now it seems only on the prawn channels, i get the message for a second, screen goes black for a second then clears.....just happen to notice this while flicking through the channels last night, lol

jury still out on the tv pack, not too sure the benefits outweigh the problems.....i'll give it a little longer

cheers

Quite surprisingly I have just found that my FloppyDTV doesn't seem to work with FireDTV or MCE on Vista x64 however DVBDream seems to work just fine.
