Hi Folks
First post so be gentle to a technophobe! I have had SKY now a few years with no bother whatsoever. At the start of June I got SKY+ installed, and again watching SKY was grand. However when I watch a recording from SKY+ it jumps intermitently during the playback. I called out the SKY tech, and over the last three or four visits they have replaced the SKY box twice, the LMB, the dish, and rewired the whole operation...still no joy. We also have SKY hooked up to the rest of the house. When I watch SKY+ here it does not jump. So therefore the problem is particular to my main TV which is a Samsung flatscreen. I replaced the scart cable, and tried both scart points at the back of the tele and still it jumps. Tonight (And apologies if the terms are wrong) I hooked the SKY to the TV via a standard RF cable. Guess what? Still jumping! So basically I have replaced every possible cause but the picture still jumps. Now the picture only jumps on playback, but is perfect while watching SKY live. The onlu thing I can point to is some sort of compatability problem with the TV and the SKY system while using SKY+ but I have no idea if this is possible. Even the SKY engineers seem flumoxed! Ok just change your tv (for test purposes) and see if that helps but to be honest I can't see it being a compatible issue.
In what way is your house wired? Do you have multiroom? Do you have a freeview aerial aswell? Sky eyes? I will try to help you as best I can. You could actually try and take the recordings from the harddisk to a pvr of some sort and see if thats teh problem. |

Hi Caluiflower
I don't have multiroom. I have a cable coming out of the RF out part of the SKY box which links through to the rest of the rooms in the house. I have a fewview ariel as well. The hard disk looks like the problem, but the fact that this is SKY box number 3, and that it plays fine on all other TVs seems to rule that problem out. I'll hook another TV up later but I expect that it'll play back fine. Thanks IB |

I presume then that you have eyes in the different rooms to changs channels etc. O.K. do the recordings play fine in the other rooms.
The other thing I would suggest is that you change the lnb feeds around (unplug box before doing this) move lnb1 - lnb2 and vice versa. And then try and record, also use the rf 2 out of the sky box do go to your tv but switch off the 9v as not great for the tuner in tv. |
