Default Desperate times/desperate measures!

Still having trouble getting flee-bay infinate up and running via 250 config.
Had some macs sent to me from neighbouring UBR but still struggling to get up and running.

So my question is instead of using all my swapped mac addy's can i sniff some more of my own and try those?
I know this will result in clashing with nearby pc and kicking each other out,but at least i would then know its a mac problem with the trades i've rec'd.

Its a desperate process of elimination on my behalf but
this way will know if all pre-programmed data input by seller is compatible to where i am and that my TFTP IP is the correct one.
Any ideas please folks?????????????????
Thanks

You might have to try quite a few MACs before you get 1 to work. Do you have a subbed modem? If so put that on and see if it connects-If it does use the MAC scanner in the ambit tool and use as base MAC-it should give you some good results

to get your TFTP IP connect to internet, open DHCPForce put in mac you are using, go to dchp and hit discover, if that dont work just let it run till it picks up mac, witch then will give you your tftp

I was having problems for ages trying to get my fleebay modem up & running, i got loads of macs & none worked. I decided to try the mac of my subbed modem & it worked fine. so its worth trying your subbed modem mac to see if it connects.

At least now i know its a mac problem, i just need a working one now

Best bet would be to read the basics section here.

thecablemodembible.co.cc

Then read the Ambit 250 section and follow the tuts to the letter.

Make sure everything is set as per the guides.

Also try using the default config, rather than forcing a config file, as you can no longer force configs in some areas.

does dhcp sniffer bring back macs to use , or do they still need to be traded with someone else?

If you have your own subbed MAC use the Ambit Mac Scanner-It will test MACs around you're original-you will have to leave running for a while and you will see good/bad MACs. Great tool.

Thanks all for info.
Will try out advice today.
How can i obtain my subbed mac address, on underside of modem there are two mac configs:-
HFC MAC ..............................
USB CPE MAC ........................

I guess its the HFC one.Is there anywhere i can check this out, because i've noticed that since trying to get on-line for some reason my IP addy
has changed(last two digits strange)

I am subbed at mo to VM with Blue Y-nder
P.S.
Before switched to TW was on BBand with AOL. After switch missus kept up small payment to AOL and run parallel piggyback style with T.Pest to keep her orig E-mail account etc.
This wouldn't affect me having all this trouble to connect would it??
Thanks
