Ambit on ip's beginning with 10

I've always been a surfboard man me self, and have never come across the Ambit's,

Any way i was at a mates and he's on an ambit and the ip addresses that he's using are starting with a 10.

We all know that they are internal networks, businesses or schools and that and i have been trying to get him onto a mac ip that begins with 82 or 90 or so, so i done some scanning and found some macs that work 20 meg on the surfboard bu when he loads them into the ambit he says he can't get net connection.

I gave him "smac" to try and mask his nic addy but that won't run on vista, it's being a bey'atch.

Can any one give me any advice on what were doing wrong and how

a) i can get him on a decent ip
b) hide his mac address for his network card like what "smac" does.
