Capacitor missing in 500s

Hello everyone again just trying to sort out two dreamboxes I have. ANy after putting the two side by side I notice that dreambox (b) say doesn't have a cap in C213 and the other does also looks like the Q72 and Q70 mosfets are gone.

Is this normal to be missing that cap does naybody know ?

If you look in this picture in the top right hand it shopws you the difference between the clones and the originals and where it shows the top right hand side the difference between the small and big cap thats the cap i'm missing.

Now finally I'm trying my best to tell if these are clones or not. They are exactly the same as the original except that the ethernet in does not have any engraved marks apart from that there exactly the same.

Do the capicitors on the fakes make them dangerous to use?

Mine worked fine until it blew up and set the house on fire

It worked fine up until the point when i sold it, with no problems at all and no fires

You can try the file below or email a picture of the board to Dream multimedia.

DMM will tell you if it is a fake or not. Thats how i found out i'd been stuffed with my 600 which is now just a backup just incase my DM7020 or TM9100 go t!ts up

I did that clone bomb checker and said it was fine. Does that not just check if it has a time bomb i.e. gemini 4.2 i think it was? Or can that just tell me if its a clone.

No idea, never used it

I knew my old Eagle box was a 500s clone so there wasn't much point in checking

I would just email a pic to DMM. They will confirm it very quickly

the 500s clones are terrible, esp the ones ive run into. On some of them, the tuners dont pickup channels on high frequencies..

Whats the cheapest original Dreambox (linux based) that i can pickup? and where from?

I actually bought two boxes recently from dvbmonkey at about 70 euro delivered. (each 140 total)

They work perfectly.

cauliflower69, how many channels did they pickup on 28.2?

Do you know what tuners they have in them? TBH I would never touch a dreambox clone, they have too many problems.
