Default Help moving Virgin Media Cable Box

I recently had virgin media broadband and tv installed, tv was downstairs and broadband upstairs.
My tv was not working properly and a engineer came round and said somebody put the splitter the wrong way which causes it to pixelate when using the broadband.
My question is can i use the tv upstairs? Will the splitter outside the house allow this to happen and how will I go about doing this?
Also will virgin media do this for free or will they charge me because they have already been out twice.

Thanks for the help

on a 2 way u lose 3db on each connection

think of it as 1 in 2 out, they put the in on a out so was only going one way....

i`ve done it before on the 3 way as it always used to be IN on the right, now some have IN as the 2nd to last split
