Default Complete Eurovox noob considering buying Eurovox

Hi, I know this will be a tedious request but I'm a busy guy and I need help!
I'm not sure where to start really - my first question is do I need a Cable box (Virgin) with a basic subscription before I buy one of these things?

Then after I have both do I just connect to a PC with one... upload firmware, download stuff, download backup stuff...
then connect it to presumably the cable box and the TV and scan?

It's all very technical and confusing when I've searched for answers so far as existing requests all seem to be at stage 2 or 3 whereas i'm at stage 0 (having no idea)!

Thanks alot

I guess I asked to be spoonfed :P
Now to search for a getting started with eurovox that doesn't assume you already have one and have firmware already!

It does, and i'd read that. What I don't know is what I need to have prior to buying a Eurovox to watch it on a TV in my living room. I'm pretty sure i'd need more than just a standard Aerial. That thread starts with connecting a box to the PC with assumption that everything prior to that is sorted. Do I need a Cable box or what...? This all seems to be assuming you are watching on your PC.

Hi

You need to have a basic subscribtion to ensure that you have a live feed coming into the house, then you just might need a splitter and connect the eurovox or any other box to it and off you go providing your eurovox had got the latest firmware flashed to it.

Regards

so if you have a virgin box or whatever you don't need to connect it to a PC or whatever?
its all extremely confusing.

Right. Think i'm on top of it.... is the null modem cable just the cable you use to connect your desktop to your monitor or is it a different kind?
Thanks again
