Default sb5101E - a little help please.

hi there, me mate has a surfboard 5101E and he says that it's already been flashed.

just a couple of questions.

Do you have to have a black cat cable to enter new macs or can they be done via telnet after these have been flashed?

Any tips on this model?

Thanks

wat firmware have you put on it ? plus you dont need to have the black cat connected just the ethernet lead then depends on wat firmware you have put on you will need the 250 configorater if that dont work then it 192.168.100.1 that then should bring up the sigma page where you can enter new macs, config files, and your tftp ip hope this helps

Hi mate,

I managed to get the Ambit mac changer working and have connected to the modem and changed the mac to a one that i defo know works from my Surfboard 4100, after i reset the modem it won't go on line, i have logged onto the web page of the modem and i can see that the mac address has changed to the one that i put on but still no connection to the net, everytime it resets it gets 192.168.100.10

I have been reading about the changing it back to the factory firmware but this is a 2nd hand modem and i don't have the firmware as it was bought off the net.

It's got the old infinite firmware on the surfboard 5101e and by looking at what it can do the new firmware would allow me to change the mac via the web interface.

I'm lost as to what to do now though.

Would i need a jtag blackcat cable to change the firmware now? if i could just get it working and connecting to the net that would be OK for me for now.

Thanks

Have you changed the config name and the tftp ip to your area?

Hi
Infinite firmware has a bug that sometimes changes the tuner setting and it wont lock on no matter what you do.
If it just keeps scanning this could be the problem.
to tell the truth you should put HAXORWARE onto the modem.

One you do this you can change all settings from the web interface and it has more stealth setting's then any other firmware.

If you need the firmware let me know i have all versions....

It is possible but not recommended!
and it depends on the firmware you have on the modem at this time!

you can use softjtag to upgrade using Ethernet but it can crash and brick your modem.

I recommend using max232 or blackcat method instead!
