I have a "Eurovox Max V" remote and an EV2 box. The Remote for the EV2 has died... (silver one!)!

Can I the reload the EV2 with the Max Blue software to make the remote work or will it brick the box? Will a MAX V remote (the black one) work if I did this or would i have to load the box with Max V firmware? Is that possible..?
