Default avi files with nero

Hi when i download videos from the net and want to burn them to a dvd useing nero it has to first convert the video then burn it to disc. But when converting the video it takes about a hour to convert and 2 mins to burn. Is there a way i can speed up the video conversion.

Even if i have to use a diff program

Or is it something to do with my computer as it is 2 years old now

cheers

My dads now putting a few films on one disc as avi files but nobodys dvd will read them apart from his. Is this again a issue do to him getting a top of the range dvd player ??

nah mate usually the cheaper the dvd player the more formats it plays . i have yamada 6700 it plays just about everything including divx ...to burn avi's with nero all i do is select dvd iso then burn 3 or 4 movies to one disc much easier than all that converting crap most players that do this cost less than 50 quid some much less

Nero sux balls when it comes to video conversion. I recommend you go fo ConvertXToDVD and you'll be able to fit more than one film on a disc.

Yes just add the files you want to Nero Vision.
It can adjust the bitrate of the films to fit the disc.
Hardware DVD recorders have various constant-bit-rate settings for 1, 2, (3,) 4 and 6 hours recording.
Software recoders such as Nero can use variable-bit-rate to eke the best quality/running time out of the available space.
