Hi There,
I wonder if anyone could possibly offer me some advice! my EV Max V has just stopped working. I had to switch back earlier today to my VM box because a 'technician' was coming round to check a broadband modem fault. When I switched back, the EV had a solid yellow light on the 'message' led, but nothing on the TV screen. I tried to reboot the EV, but now there are no lights whatsoever, everything appears to be dead. I have checked all the connections, and changed the fuse in the plug (just in case), but no joy. Any help would be greatly appreciated - if it turns out that the box will need some repairs, then if there is anyone in the north of Glasgow area who can undertake this work, then I would also appreciate them getting in touch. Many thanks in advance ![]() ![]()

Thanks for the prompt reply - I have taken the plunge and opened up the box (it's over a year old anyway) - and yes, the C14 does look 'slightly swollen'.
I have never used a solder iron in my life, so I would prefer to have this fixed by someone who knows what they are doing - so I'm still hoping that someone in the north of Glasgow will see this and get in touch (leave a reply, or send me a p.m.) |

have a go yourself , maplins sell the capacitor for 50p and buy a small soldreing iron same place . just melt solder on underside of board holding the capacitor and it pulls out then fit new one in reverse , make sure you get the + and - the same way round as original . thats what i did and ive never done one before .
