Hi,
I received the new Starview 4 Super USB yesterday and it is a very straight forward piece of kit that works as described by the online retailers. I had actually expected, however, that it would have the ability to schedule a recording, but this doesn’t seem to be the case. To me this seems to defeat the purpose of being able to attach an HDD by USB as you can only really record if you are there in person to press the record button. Additionally, there doesn’t even seem to be any way of scheduling a viewing. Speculation of course, but does anyone know if this is the type of constraint that may be overcome in future software/firmware releases? Or, is there any third party software that I could add to my set up so that I can schedule recordings?? I do have a WIN-TV-USB so I could route everything through that and schedule recordings using their software on my laptop (and then save the output to my USB HDD). I doubt I would be able to play the recordings back via the Starview 4 Super USB though as the WIN-TV-USB records in a different format (MPEG2 I think and Starview 4 seems to be TS files). I don’t want to go to these lengths anyway! I realise this is new to the market so knowledge may be limited but any help or wild speculation about how it may be technologically possible to add this feature would be appreciated. Thanks……… |

The firmware is Beta and as of yet there is no timer facility for recording purposes. These will be addressed in future non Beta revisions.

Much appreciated guys. Once this is addressed its gonna be a pretty dam good machine.
The other thing I noticed tonight was that the picture was breaking up and freezing a bit. A re-boot sorted this out but its obviously a concern if it does this after being on for only 24 hours (signal strength is full for all channels). Hopefully the firmware updates will sort this too. Any idea how long it will take for the next firmware release? I'm new to this game! Last edited by Radge10; 26-09-08 at 12:19 AM. Reason: to correct spelling! |

cheers. keycode remained on anyway. If I try to do a factory reset (via System Setup - Factory Default) it asks me for a password. Do you know what the password is?

Cheers. I tried 1111 and 2222! This proves how daft I am!!!
Just to ask another really obvious question - choosing teh "Factory Default" option is teh same as doing a factory reset yeah? |
