Default Mac Addresses

Im using DHCP sniffer to sniff out mac addresses.
Are all the macs I sniff out going to be from the same UBR as mine?
Will a mac from the same UBR not work?
Can I use any other mac address as long as its not from the same UBR?

Erm the Macs you sniff out are going to be from your UBR yes.
It depends on your area if a Mac from the same UBR will work on ur modded modem, im on the EX C&W system and it seems to work with the Macs i scan from home Just give it a try, if it doesnt you will no cos the internet will be knocked off, and the modem will reboot (essentially)
If this method doesnt work for you then you need a Mac from the same area such as
cpc1-leed17-0-0-cust714.leed.cable.ntl.com
but you need to make sure you trade with someone that has a different beginning of the ubr, such as
cpc1-leed17-0-0-cust714.leed.cable.ntl.com - make sure the CPC1 or what ever yours is, is different when trading.
Hope this helps

im worried about using these macs as well, iv read everywhere that i can use the macs that dhcp-sniffer finds for myself without having to trade them.

dhcp-sniffer is meant to sniff from different urbs, correct?

Mate how can you tell what urb they are from?

cheers

Erm im not sure how you check where there from. Im assuming by entering them into your modem and then going to something like ipchicken.com to find it out. I think.
Erm yeah i think DHCP Sniffer is to sniff from diff ubrs. I rarely use it since i rarely change my mac. But it works

if u use a same mac from your area your asking for trouble in my opinoin espiciall;y if u aint spoofing your nic[pc net cards] mac....but thats me......

just sniff some out then swap some with a m8 or online--------------------
in my area if i use a mac from my ubr its on for about 20 mins then cuts of till i reboots modem, so best not to---though like said above in other posts depends on area maybe...yes use dhcp==== or run it on a m8s comp few roads away other side a town------and sniff for em there--ive just bin to mother in laws to do same thing ...and it solved my probs

also try not forcing the config when initally testing just use the 1 for the mac u use....
if works fine then try forcing......bund03 or something

look m8------honestly sniff say 10 and try em all till u get 1 that works, some times they do some times they ---but few months ago everything was gr8 here i could use em its only been very recently me and severAL OTHER i know have had trouble alos theres been loads of virgin guys in all the box over past weeks,, soo?????????????

good luck but for best chance use 1 from a different area---it lowers chance of
conflictions----surely this speaks for itself ----

is each green box a ubr or is it say by estate??? im not sure all i know if i use 1 from differnet area i dont get the probs that started to arise the other day!!!

and different areas are different also................since last night i must have tried 20 differnent macs to get it working and some of them wouldnt force config so like i said b4----use config for that mac then if it works force it 20meg..

end of day m8 just try----u think when mine fu**ed other day i had no internet to help so i just experinmented with configs i salready had stored ---all cut off and modem needed rebooting from between 1 min and 20mins using macs from 2 mile down road everythings gr8 now been on for last few hours no loss of connection and its now forced to bund03 also

hope helpz man

im in n e lincs
