How to spoof you 'nic' mac easily with xp

though this should be in pc section i though it relevant here as people thinking they need alsorts of software to spoof nic

this will not damage your network card---it is only spoofing and can be easily rectified-
if u spoof in windows then say u have a hd with linux on it and u use that to boot from your comp,your nic mac will be back at its original untill u spoof it in linux which is even easier......anyhow here goes......

i have only done this with xp but by all means check in other versions of windows and may work---does on media centre 05 for example not sure about earlier versionms

NIC = network interface card inside your pc...... basiclly hold the address of your pc for those that didnt know!, thing that gets logged on every site page thing email what ever u do where ever u go your nic mac/ip is logged

ALSO IF YOU DO MODEMS ON A REGULAR BASIS ON 1 PC IT IS WISE TO SPOOF YOUR NIC MAC REGULARLY OR EACH TIME U DO ANOTHER MODEM, AGAIN REDUCING CHANCES OF BEING TRACED ETC, AS EACH TIME I DO IT, AND CHECK LOACTION OF IP, THE ADDRESS CHANGES- AS U SHOULD ALL KNOW THAT YOU CAN GET A HOUSE ADDRESS FROM AN IP IF NOT U CAN DEFFO GET THE ROAD ITS COMING FROM....IF IT AINT SPOOFED..

here guys u can change/spoof your mac of nic with no other progs at all in xp its
easy--

this in turn also changes/spoofs ip of nic as well as mac

remember to reboot modem after each spoof

it is also easily reversed here goes

goto start------> control panel-------> network connections

right clkick ' local area connections' or 'wireless connections' goto properties

click on the 'configer' tab

then click on the 'advanced' tab

you will now see

linkspeed
network adress <------- u want this 1 THOUGH MAYBE DIFFERENT
receive buffer size

u want to select 'network adress' OR- 'LOCALLY ADMINISTERED ADDRESS' THERE BOTH THE SAME.....

there are to bullet selectors 1 value 2nd is not present

to spoof ur mac select the value bullet
then type in your mac you want to spoof--- using 6 x 2 digit hex

using [0-9] and [a -f ] enter in capitals example 40 E3 A9 1F 0D F1 B7
enter without spaces though. eg:-

40E3A91F0DF1B7

click on ok's till saved and exited..
to test goto start run type in cmd and press enter
then type ipconfig /all press enter

AND OHH LOOKSY HERE THEN YOUR BRAND NEW SPOOFED MAC WIHCIH ALSO SHOULD CHANGE IP OF NIC......

then reboot pc and modem to fully take effect now...

if ur behind a router u may have additional settings with that in the router itself --try restting that also

and yes changing your nic mac regularly helps to not get caught / take a hit what ever - i must say!!

can also give u acces to certain system that have mac filtering !! like firewalls say! just an xtra thought

i also tend to change my mac on my modem regular also

when u are not spoofing your mac or want to cancel a spoofed 1- just select ' not present'

then ok ,ok ,ok etc to save it u know the score there, but make sure u reset both pc and modem and that after......


also some people have been saying that they get there speed 'capped' at certain times or after so much download,

so spoofing your nic mac and changing modem mac regular can also help maintain i regualr speed, AND REDUCE CHANCES OF BEING CAUGHT AS I KEEP SAYING....

also if using 250 config tool id disable telnet after youve done what u need with and changed password etc-----though make note of them---if u need to telnet it ull have to re enable it with 250config tool.....then telnet---so keep your max cable in goood order LOL

just lowers chances of it getting hit by virgin...........SOZ GOING ON AGAIN lol...........

Have problem though!
Get as far as "configure"
"advanced"

but dont then see "linkspeed"
"network address"?????????????????
"receive buffer size"

I then have "enable PME"
"link speed & Duplex"
"offloading"
etc,etc
Can't see anything about "network address"
Any ideas please.Thank you

do u see an option saying

'loaclly adminstErted address'

if so thats the same as 'network address'

also r u deff right clicking on the 'local area connection' or 'wireless conn' icon in 'network connections' it should 1 be these--- wireless 1 if connecting wirelesly and the loacl 1 -- or what ever if u renamed it----- if using ethernet, or the 1394 if u using firewire unlikey though
