Default Re: MAC and CONFIG?

I'm definately on 2mb. I get about 240 kb/sec on newsgroups and the speed test confrims that.

In Fibrecoax it says Current 'Config' file name: cm-cpe2-20480-768 yet it won't let me off 2mb

Another thing is that I'm unable to establish a time of day.

Thanks but same thing with the previous config where fibrecoax thinks that is the one in use.

I've been reading that accessing the modem through telnet so I can do this...

enable force_cfgfile false

but I'm getting nothing in hyperterminal and I think I might need to use a max 232 (soldering) to get into the modem.

I honestly think it would be easier to just get a 250 off ebay and start all over again.

Well ive got no experience in the MAX232 area or Hyperterminal area. Erm have you tried disconnected your modem from everything and then connecting it back up. Ive found that can do the trick.

If you have updated firmware, load hyperterminal and select TCP/IP Winsock as connection type, ip as 192.168.100.1 and leave the port.
You should then be able to connect to the modem.
Enter your username and password to get into the modem.
Then enter the command:

enable force_cfgfile true

Then it should force the config of your choosing. The easiest way to do this is with the 250 Configurator tool. Just make sure MaxDL is set to ZERO or else the cable company would update your modem for you....How kind of them...Something you DON'T want!

MrCrisp, just to be clear you know I have a 4200e right?

Anyway I think I made some progress with the tcp/ip route. I can now type stuff in hyperterminal but mostly I'm getting undefined symbol for commands that I'm trying. Is it even connected to the 4200e you think?
