Hello all. Thought i would introduce myself. Im new to this forum and after being told by a friend that if i get a eurovox and a virgin media connection into my house then i could get all the channels. Over the last couple of days i have been reading through this forum and looking on ebay for the cheapest eurovox. I think i understand how to set everything up.
However, i was speaking to the parents last night and i asked them as we have a vm connection for the house have we got a white box where the wires meet on the wall. They said no, as the technician that came along shoudl have put a new box on but to save time he just run a wire into the house. My question is. Can i still put a splitter to this single wire trhat is running into the house or would i have to call vm and get one of these boxes fitted. Where about does the splitter get used in the process?? Some sort of diagram of how the setup would look would be great if anyone has one to send me?? I hope that all of this has made sense to at least someone. A reply would be great. Thanks. ![]() Wayne |

Hi
You can put a splitter on this cable and use it as long as the feed is live. As you are saying you are going to get VM connection then they will put white box in. Regards |

yusuf_gaz, he already says he's got a VM connection, they just didnt put the little white box on. I take it you have the Broadband or TV with vi**in already then?
Yeah if you just got the cable then add a splitter onto it. But before you connect the splitter together you need to do a power scan. This is best done with a direct connection. So if you take the cable coming into your house and link it your Eurovox and then go through the process of doing a PowerScan (The powerscan allows you to search for the most transponders in your area) then you will be able to connect everything back up once this has finished. Hope this helps

the pvr model will do all what the other models do with the added option of fitting a drive to record etc.
it will get you all the channels without the hard drive but its there if need be, you have to decide if the few extra quid is worth that option. if you have no broadband and you are having the boxes next to each other disconnect the cable from your box and screw it to the splitter then you will need two cables with f connectors on each end both of these cables screw to the out of the splitter, one going to the Vermin box the other to the EV the one going to the EV will need a little push fit connector which normally comes with the box EDIT : if you buy off lincsat a member of this forum he will sort you out with everything you need. hi wpickett,,
be very carefull where you source your cable box from,, it is not all about cost. back up service,,warrenty is very important,, and also cheap can mean CLONES!!,,suddenly that 20 quid you have saved becomes unimportant,, will you be able to flash the eurovox with different software ok?,,as many suppliers only supply boxes with fta (free to air) software on them,, remember you will have to learn to be able to flash the box because of future updates,, avoid purchasing cheap splitters,,coax,,connectors as these can cause problems,, go for rg6 (double shielded) coax should be fine,, |
