Changing nic mac not working

Whenever I change my nic mac using windows xp method or smac, im unable to connect to the internet via my subbed modem or to haxoware on my flashed modem via 192.168.100.1
Anyone got any ideas why? Can only get anything to work when i use the original nic mac, i just get the limited or no connectivity message when i change it

When you change your nic mac and connect the cloned modem, in the modem settings, is it pickig up your nic mac?

Mine is but the nic mac my modem has picked up has one digit different to the one I typed into smac? Anyone know if this is right? It all works anyway!

Umm im not sure, but ive got it working now using a spoofed nic mac, seems i need to reboot pc and modem each time i do it.
