Talking Some important questions before I buy !

Complete newbie to this...upgrading from a STB (NC4001) with AU MOSC on vista MCE with IR blaster.

After a bit a research and reading, I am going to get a floppyDTV-C and a blue ZetaCAM with Joker 0.79.

Before I buy just a a few questions ....

1)Can I use my AU MOSC that is already in the STB ?? I presume I will have to change the BK on the CAM to match the STB. Can this be done with the the ZetaCAM ??

2)Is this the best combination ?

3)Can I get HD channels in vista?

4)Will the channels in the EPG scan themselves (+ update) correctly or is there a lot of work involved?

5)Also if I want to put dual tunners in my HTPC , is that easy enough to do ??? I presume I have to buy two FloppyDTV's and two CAMS? Is there any other hardware I need to link them together ??

6)Lastly does a FloppyDTV have talkback ?? and does that matter ??

thx .....

not much work but i can only get 3 days with the native epg....but you can use a 3rd party and d/l from the internet with some work....and u can set task sheduler to d/l once a day automatically

Ok thanks, that was quick!! - so it looks like the only problem is the native EPG. Any reason why it only shows 3 days ?? Does that scan the channels automatically for you (i.e. you don't have to maually edit files during install etc..), and keep them up to date ??

Thought of another few questions.....

1)Does it change channel accurately ?? My STB and IR Blaster was a bit flakey !!! You didn't always know if it would change channel for you !

2)Can you link me to some info about setting up 3rd party software for the the EPG so i can have a read ???

3)How do I change the BK on the CAM when I get it ?

4)Is it worth my while buying a CAM programmer at the same time ??

Not sure cafe racer seems to have cracked it, he may be able to help

u have to set it up as u want it after scanning but that's it then....except scan for extra channels if they come out or cc changes transponders (rare)

my mce remote works fine, responds quicker than my subbed v+ box and remote

Vista MCE & UK Sky Integration Guide v0.04.rar

u can do that in most applications, mytheatre, ritzdvb etc

Ok - Think that is just about everything, I will order today !!

I do have a card programmer so that shouldn't be a problem....

I will read the tutorial about the EPG.

Is the joker firmware likely to change ??

When you say set up the EPG as I want after scanning, can I do this any way I like or do I have to match numbers to the channels on my STB?

I saw a few of your photo's and the s*y channels were in your EPG. I presume you can't watch these !? Do the vm channels (e.g. vm 1) come up ok ??

never used a tit but u need to read the img on the card using nagraedit....why do you need the bk of this img/card? u can use any bk as long as the card and cam match, or are u planning to use the same bk for the floppy as ur stb?

hi thanks again for the quick response this forum is great and very helpful.

i was under the impression i had to use a BK for my area so that the HD channels would work.

if this is not the case then thats great news as i have just purchased a zeta cam flashed with joker 0.79 and it already has a BK assigned to it.
Does this mean i can use the BK from my joker on a fun card 4 or tit2 and it will work fine?.

please give me some good news and you will have made my 3 month head ache go away. ive been trying for months to switch from STB to HTPC/TV but ive had no luck with softcams and wanted to use hard cams. every one on the whole damn planet seems to be having success except me LOL.
