Hi mate,
I do not have, nor shall I ever in this God foresaken country, broadband and I have my box connected with a direct crossover and have no problem with my connection. Go to network and sharing, in control panel, and on the left click on manage network connections, then highlight the internet protocol version 4 and click on properties. You should click on use the following IP address, now fill in the top three lines as follows IP address 192.168.0.1 Subnet mask 255.255.255.0 Default gateway 192.168.0.1 You can leave the DNS servers blank or get them from your ISP, but there is no need for them. If you have any image on your box, go to network and set the IP ect. to the following. Box IP is 192.168.0.24 Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway 192.168.0.1 If thre is no image on your box then use DreamUp and a serial cable (Null Modem Cable) from your PC to the box and use the DreamUp to flash the box, as I said it will take around 1/2 Hour to flash the box. When asked tick the eraise falsh box and when you have finished restart the box and the image should have flashed and will start up. Do not be in any hurry to restart the box, as it does it's own thing at the end, flashing from memory, eraise flash and stuff like that, wait till DreamUp tells you the box has been flashed, before restarting it. As I have aready said most of the images now set the box IP to 192.168.0.24, which is the addresses that DCC, DreamboxEdit, Dreamset and other utilities use. Hope this will do the job for you, if not then you must not have a direct crossover cable, but a patch cable. Good luck and please do let us know how you got on, as it will help others as well as you, if it does do the job. Very best regards Wez

Thanks Wez
Unfortunately I do not have a crossover cable, I will go out and get one tomorrow. This is a good excuse to call it a day, I will certainly let you know how I get on as having spent a lot of time on a lot of forums I know that there are many folks out there who need help. Regards

Billet, when you get the direct crossover cable all should be Ok. I would strongly advise you to use DreamUp to flash the box first and when you are at it get a Null Modem Cable for use with DreamUp. When you have flashed your image, get Barry Allen, it will allow you to have up to 8 images for booting. Get a 1Gb Digital Flash and use it for the Barry Allen, the slot for it is at the front of the box, under the flap
But that is for later, firstly you need to get the image flashed to the box and for ease of use I would suggest that you use the latest Gemini image, the 3.80, as it is very easy to use. Very best regards Wez

Billet, you may be lucky because some routers will switch to accomodate straight or crossover cables. If it does not auto switch then you must use a straight or patch lan cable. Wez does not use a router.

Hi all,
Here is the update that I promised. I have had a few days and nights of trying this and tweaking that in order to achieve a position where I would be able to upload data from my computer to the Dreambox 7025+. If you have been reading the posts in this thread you will know what my dilemma was. Anyhow to try and keep it short I have managed to flash my box successfully using the popular software Dreamup. I tried various other applications including Dreambox manager, Flash wizard pro and FlashFxp all of which I could not get to work (but I learned a lot trying!!). Dreambox manager looked like fun but this latest f The problem was all to do with the IP addresses. Now I know it sounds simple and once you get the hang of it it is. I was advised to get a crossover cable as opposed to a normal patch cable which I did. I attached the crossover cable from my computer to the Dreambox. Before this I used to access the internet by a wired network, I had to scrap that method and revert back to a wireless network. In essence I now have two networks running, wireless and wired (crossover cable). I did as Wez said and gave my computer a new fixed IP and the Dreambox a fixed IP address, the actual settings are in a previous post. These settings were put into Dreamup and I am absolutely overjoyed to say that it worked a treat. I was expecting it to be a slow process but I flashed the box with the latest LT Image, LT-Fifth-dm7025.nfi (dated today I believe), it was all done and dusted within 5 mins. I then had to go through a complete new set-up including a rescan of all the satellites. As I type it is about seven eighths completed, it has been at it for about 5 hours give or take an hour. Has anybody any ideas why one software package worked and the others didn’t. It can’t be much of a problem there is very little on other forums. I think I am going to enjoy this box. Regards

Hi Bill.
Firstly well done mate and it is all very simple, once you get the hang of it. You did not have to scan all the sats, you can download a settings file and upload it to your box, using DreamboxEdit or Dreamset. I use the Captians settings. When you have uploaded the settings file you have everything in nice order. I am very happy you got there and that you are enjoying the box. Very best regards Wez

Thanks Wez,
Unfortunately it has all gone t*ts up, there is a bug in the latest image I think, the website is currently closed they must be working on it. Where do you get the captains list from? Regards Not to worry i've found it.

If you want to see/change the IP follow the instructions in 11.7 of the manual.
The other way to just see the IP or if it is set to DHCP, Put the box into deep standby; remove the power supply; hold the on button on the box and connect the power supply. After a few moments, the IP will be shown on the LCD.

Just a minor point, the section in the manual of the 7025 network is 8.7, 11 is troubleshooting.
