Hi,
I am trying (without success) to connect my 7025 Dreambox to my PC to flash it with Dreamup. I have the crossover cable connected. My Dreambox says: IP Address:192.168.001.002 Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 Use Gateway: yes Gateway: 192.168.001.001 My PC Says: Ip Address: 192.168.1.2 Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0 Default gateway: 192.168.1.1 My problem is that I`ve read various forums on this subject, all with different IP address configurations. So, Iīm not sure which is the correct one. Can anyone plese help? Thanks Mike |

just dont press the off button on the remote, it just puts it into stanby.
Its menu, shutdown, then restart. Or select shutdown. When you press the on button on the 7025 it`s self, hold the down button in and it will display the ip of the box.

The Dreambox and the PC must not have the same IP. Do you have them connected via a router? If so the router will be 192.168.1.1. Leave the PC as 192.168.1.2 and change the Dreambox to another number. I suggest 192.168.1.24.

Hi again,
Tried all that & the LCD would only display ***stop*** & above it, "dhcp" TRied the box with 192.168.1.24, & also tried "PInging" ...timedout, no connection Tried again, pinging & got a reply from 192.168.153.1 ...wierd! then tried pinging again with cable between PC & dreabox unplugged & again got a reply from 192.168.153.1. Could that be the number of the rooter? Anyway, then looked in the network setting in dreambox (IP address etc) & the Dreambox Crashed! Showing an appology message on blue screen, can you help with that one? Mike |

Not sure about the blue screen, but you have to disable dhcp if you want to set your own Dreambox IP otherwise the router will allocate an IP.
How do you have your Dreambox connected to your lan?

Hi everyone,
It seems that this thread explains my problem to a T. so hopefully I can resurrect it. Going right back to the first Post there is talk about a "crossover cable", is this different to a normal "patch" cable? I have a feeling that it is, so are we saying that I cannot connect my DB to my computer without one, in other words I must have a crossover cable and not a patch cable? I will leave it there for the time being to see when I get an answer whether or not that solves my problem. As a matter of interest I can communicate to my Vantage with a Patch cable. Regards

A crossover cable and a patch cable are not the same. If you connect your Dreambox direct to your PC then you need a crossover lan cable. If you connect network components via a router then you need a patch or straight lan cable.
